The Power of Storytelling

Girl Rising launched as a nonprofit after witnessing the power of storytelling to catalyze change. The stories of nine ordinary, extraordinary girls in the original Girl Rising film help spark a global movement for girls’ education. Today, storytelling remains at the heart of our education programs and Future Rising.

Debbie Odenyi, Girl Rising’s Kenya Program Manager, was honored with a ReimaginED award from our partner Metis Collective. Debbie oversees the implementation of the Girl Rising Global Education Fund in Kenya, our six-year venture philanthropy fund through which we support local leaders who have innovative, culturally relevant ideas on how to advance gender equity and education quality.
